22nd to 24th January 2018. We are getting more and more active in engaging with other schools in Samui. This year, for the first time, the International School of Samui took part in the annual 7-a-side football tournament at Namuang Stadium, in the south of the island.
More or less 20 schools including international schools and local schools (that's plenty of schools for a relatively small island as this) took part in the tournament and the level of passion, sportsmanship and skill was very high.
The first two days of a 3-day tournament saw huge downpours, but this didn't stop our young players. Our boys and girls teams both enjoyed some competitive matches made more challenging by the somewhat muddy conditions.
While neither team qualified for the quarter-finals, all the players involved can be extremely proud of their hard work, desire and team work. And there is always something to be learnt from every experience and from other players and teams. We are positive that this experience serves as a motivation for our students to strive more, train harder and come back next year with much better skills going for them.
We are looking forward to next year's tournament already!
