In three intense days of training, 7 members of the ISS team completed two separate internationally recognized certification training programs to keep everyone safe in the swimming pool.
1) Emergency First Response (EFR): CPR & AED Training, where everyone mastered CPR and deployment of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during a Life-Threatening medica; emergency involving an adult or a child. The skill learned, follow the latest international guidelines as established by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). ILCOR set the international guidelines for CPR & ECC, that all national councils on resuscitation follow, including; The European Resuscitation Council (ERC), The American Heart Association (AHA), and Australian & New Zealand Resuscitations.
Skills included Assessing the Scene - for dangers, clues, staying safe. Then Primary Assessment - the first check of an individual for a Life-threatening illness or injuries, checking for responsiveness and then breathing, activating Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and quickly and effectively initiating Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and deploying an AED, dramatically increasing the possibility of resuscitation, especially for those suffering stock.
2) SSI: Lifeguard training. Team Members learned and mastered multiple water rescue skills, from observation of participants in and around the water to identifying, recognizing, and responding to someone in crisis in the water, all within seconds. Guidelines are established by the International Lifeguarding Organization to promote water safety and awareness.
In-water rescue skills included inline spine stabilization for a possible spinal cord injury, in-water rescue breathing, spine-board water extrication, and more! Moving on to land-based rescue training combining both CPR & AED training with Lifeguard training, ensuring the Team is Rescue Ready.
