What a terrific Halloween 2018 celebration!

What a wonderful and colourful celebration Halloween was this year! Great thanks go to our enthusiastic teachers and students and their parents for their commitment to the International School of Samui's extra-curricular activities.

Halloween celebrations are always a popular event amongst our students. They love the opportunity to allow their creativity to flow. In the past couple of years, the event has had to be cancelled in honour of His late Majesty, King Bhumibol Adulyadej who passed away on 13th October 2016.

On 23rd October 2018, most students from early years to year 11 took on the dressing-up challenge, it was such an exciting and spooky day.

The day began with a parade from our early years and primary students indulging their parents' senses. The show included a everything from zombies, pumpkins, draculas, vampires, witches to scary pirates, princesses and cheerleaders on show. So much effort had gone into each costume and such skillful artistry.

The winning costumes were judged on their creativity and the impact this brought to the audience. Deputy headmistress, Mrs Andrewartha later said: "All the costumes were so amazing but really we were looking for the costumes which had been created at home from scratch. Our choice of winning costumes reflected these criteria. Although, I believe that this was by far the hardest year as so many costumes were amazing. Well done to all our students."

The morning continued with various Halloween-themed classroom activities, and after lunch, Senior School students, led by the Student Council members, treated the Primary Students to a Horror House. This activity was set up in the drama theatre (a very spooky dark room when not lit). The primary school took turns to be scared out of their wits, not for the faint-hearted and the youngest years opted to do this with the lights firmly switched on! Other activities included activity stations where students had to touch a make-believe human heart, brains & blood made with various foods.... A spooky time was had by all!

Many seniors and some teachers got into the spirit arriving on Thursday morning in various weird and wonderful costumes. No-one could quite work out who Mr Cosslett came dressed up as?

Many thanks to everyone who helped us make this day another great day at ISS! We are looking forward to next year's scary school day!
